Inspired from the place where they fell in love and shared many memories from revisiting often, this little paradise became the home of beginning their new life together with an island wedding celebration. Reflecting their love of color and modern style, this romantic couple relives their love every day.
The owners of a newly renovated home in Michigan wanted to bring the outside in, and enjoy each of the ever-changing seasons throughout the year, changing the paintings with each season. Each is large scale, and boasts the glorious colors and flora of each season; pretty in pink for spring and summer, vibrant golden shades of fall, to peaceful whites of snow for winter.
She loves Hong Kong. He loves the westcoast of Michigan. She loves abstract. He loves realism. While living in the East she loved watching the sun rise, while back here in the west side of Michigan he loved watching the sun set, together they love watching the beautiful sunsets over Lake Michigan together where they now reside. For their very modern newly built home it demanded a huge, powerful painting, bringing together both elements of abstract expressionism and being representational at the same time. The perfect image that emerged was a glorious sunset (or sunrise) with power and delicacy, that hints of the sun twinkling on the waves below. To bring in her love of gold and his love of metals, I added in platinum dust and real 24K gold flecks into the mediums, achieving a subtle glow and shimmer to the textural brushwork. The delight is the painting looks different from every angle, always creating a new experience...which is what they love about each other too!
To forever feel close to a loved one, this story is one of not only capturing a meaningful happy place of many shared memories but including a sweet little cardinal to represent a loved one's presence...that forever they will enjoy their special place together. A bridge and stepping stone to paradise, a bubbling brook of happiness, and a glorious panarama of love.
The journey for a cancer patient is a long and arduous one, filled with pain, grief, fear and uncertainty. I was commissioned to do this painting to thank the hospital for its incredible care but also to help future patients in the future. It's goal was to bring comfort, hope, inspiration to keep fighting, calm to allow healing, and to transport the patient's mind to a peaceful place...to not give up. Never give up. The only thing the patient requested was to have the family's favorite wood's flower, a bed of white trillium in it. A happy ending, the patient made a full recovery. It is hanging in the Cancer Unit at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
In a newly renovated, modern Chicago four story residence, the family wanted to envelop themselves with a wall-to-wall painting, abstract, creative, free-spirited and powerful. A "scrub of orange" was the only request, being allowed all freedoms to let the imagery to emerge in the painting process. They shared with me their ideas, favorite textures, and meaningful moments like the glow of a sunrise. The tryptich measures 6' x 12' in total
She has loved riding horses since she was a little girl. Mastering Arabian Horseback riding became her love and passion, achieving with great skill, beauty and grace the magnificence of the sport. Her parents, so proud, commissioned this painting to bring a real-life setting of romance and intrigue, and to showcase the gorgeous period dressing and jewels, as well as capture their daughter in all her beauty.
